Common Lease FAQs

Q: What type of warranties do you offer?

A: We offer a 25-year warranty on the actual panels, a 12-year workmanship warranty and an insurance policy that is worth $1 million for every roof!

Q: How do I know I will get the same electricity output?

A: We guarantee the electricity for the full 20 years. If something happens and you don’t get what we promised, then you’ll get your money back!

Q: What happens if my roof needs to be replaced?

A: Just go through your homeowners insurance for a claim. They will typically pay to take off the panels since the roof is already getting redone.

Q: What happens if I move?

A: We’ll work with the realtors to have your setup transferred to the next homeowner, just like you would with utilities — only with cheaper bills!

Q: Does my insurance get affected?

A: The great thing about solar as a service is that you don’t own the panels, so no, you don’t even have to contact your insurance company!

Q: What happens if the power goes out in my area?

A: Unfortunately, the state of Illinois is highly monopolized, so they mandate that you are connected to the grid. This means unless you have a battery backup or gas generator, keeping your power on would electrocute anyone working on the power lines. If the power goes out, so does yours.

Q: Is there really nothing out of pocket cost wise?

A: Correct. think of it like a huge solution from the state and federal. They don’t want rolling blackouts, so they put a bunch of money into it. Plus you have been taxed for it for years. The Installer would just be ensuring you get power on-site from your house at a cheaper price.

Q: What happens after the 20-year lease?

A: You have four options. You can continue on the same lease for just 10% less, start a new lease/upgrade, take the panels off for free, or purchase them at fair market value.

Q: Do I still have power in the winter time or when it’s cloudy?

A: Yes, because you have the net meter. The months when you generate more electricity than you use is then tracked like a bank, and you can roll them over for the months you need them!
